Carlos Cruz-Casas, P.E., Assistant Director over Strategic Planning for Miami-Dade County's Department of Transportation and Public Works, will speak on the agency’s transformation from a traditional transit agency to a mobility management entity, highlighting the collaboration between the county’s transportation and public works departments. With an ever-growing metropolitan population receiving tens of thousands visitors from neighboring counties every day, Miami-Dade understands the importance of efficiency in getting their customers to where they need to be, no matter the method of travel. Mr. Cruz-Casas will discuss how with the focus of mobility, MDT has been able to work towards decongesting the Miami downtown area, highlighting programs including the impact of Traffic Signal Priority on their BRT corridors, and intercounty express bus services in decrease the average passengers travel time by up to 25% as well as other projects aimed at optimizing how people move throughout Miami-Dade.
